Hi, Iam about to make a claim following a car accident, I've never had any experience of this before and wondered what to expect.

Do you have to go for medicals? How long does the process take approx?

If anybody has experience of this that they can share please let me know. Thanks

depends on the seriousness of the accident, initially both parties will be expected to fill out an accident report form (details and diagrams) and go from there.

if there are medical considerations then there may be a need for doctors letters etc but unlikely unless very serious that an independent medical exam will be required.

Mine took just over a year from the date of the incident until the money went into the bank and that included seeing a specialist about my injuries
it took me 8 months from the accident to recieving compensation, (i got minor whiplash injuries.) it took around 5 months to see a specialist claims doctor (i had to travel 45 miles as there was no specialist claims doctors in my area) and then a further 3 months after that to recieve the compensation. i had to fill out loads of forms and make endless amount of phone calls i was just glad when it was all over!
Took 4 months for my claim (self fault write off of a 12000 car). They went through EVERYTHING so make sure your have all documents for the car and all papers with regard to the crash (witnesses, photos of the crash, anyone who attended the crash(police, recovery people etc). I did not have a medical but would have if I was claiming for injuries.
