Don't really know where to post this so thought I'd try here :o) It is a kingsize duvet so takes up a lot of space -but kept it in case I might need it sometime -duh! My daughter says put it in the bin, but it will completely fill it it up, don't know whether the council tip will accept it, any ideas please? -rosy

You could offer it on Freecycle? There are a lot of people who would take it as pet bedding.
I wrapped mine round my hot water tank jacket in the loft
Buy an extra large size vacuum bag, put it in that and use your vacuum cleaner on it. You'd be surprised how much a duvet will pack down. You could kep it in a wardrobe or under the bed (If you have the space).
local RSPCA might take it
Say "Bye bye duvets..."

I gave all my old bedding to a local homeless shelter.

You can put it in the non-recycleable skip at the tip, same as with cushions
..but yes, your local animal charity might be glad of it, ask at your vet's too, ours takes blankets
I agree about the homeless/animal charities...and that's a good idea Stephen, I've got one filling up a cupboard.

rosy are you any good at sewing? You could use the duvet filling to make cushions.
perhaps if you cut one end open and empty all the filling out it might not take up so much room in the bin, then use the outer cover as a dust sheet ?

Wow some great suggestions there, thank you. I do use those bags Stephen for quilts and cushions etc, yes they are great, but I'm just trying to get rid of 'stuff'. I do think I will contact a homeless place or an animal charity, never thought of that. Robina, I do have a 'thing' about cushions-about 40 at the last count, I wouldn't dare start making any more, Mr Posy would have the screaming ab-dabs ;o) Why don't they sell cushion covers on their own any more? -(I know, profit, profit, profit!) Thank you all again -rosy
We also use an old duvet to put underneath us when camping. Gives that extra bit of warmth and comfort on a chilly night
Take it to the tip , they will take it.
My daughter is forever getting rid of stuff on freecycle and it is always good to know it is going to someone who needs it. I got rid of some old towels and sheets to local cattery.
Our local animal shelter is always asking for them .
