Sunflower Seeds for toddlers

I would like to give my toddler (who is two years old next month) Sunflower Seeds, because they are an excellent source of, well everything.

Are they safe for a toddler (obviously I would crush them up and put them into morning porridge to avoid choking) but apart from the choking risk, are they safe for a toddler?

Thanks

Obviously if you crush them, there should be no problem, but you should get advice from your health visitor or clinic first.
