My 20 year old grandson lives with me, and on Friday was diagnosed with a chest infection and given Amoxicillin 500mg to take 3 times a day.
He keeps trying to be sick but there is nothing there, and has a temperature of 39/40. I have called the doctor who says to take him to the surgery at 4.30. He is taking Paracetamol every 4 hours and also Ibuprofen, which do seem to help him to feel better for a little while.
To see him like this is very worrying, and I must confess I do panic a bit although I know there's a lot of this kind of infection around. It just seems to be going on a long time. Please can anyone reassure me please - are you about Sqad?

20 years of age..,chest infection which is being treated in the conventional manner. 3 days of antibiotics and still febrile, with some nausea but no vomiting.

Slow perhaps to respond, but not unusual.

Nothing that you have said has filled me with anxiety.

Hello Sqad - he's been prescribed Clarithromycin 500mg twice daily. The doctor said his chest infection is no worse than it was on Friday, which is a relief. He is shivering and feels really rough. Not like him at all, so I hope this strong stuff will knock the infection on its head. Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your reply....he should be fine for the weekend.
