Do you mean drilling through it, or some kind of holders, rather like mirror fixings?

To the builder
The headboard would naturally be covered before fixing to the wall
I do not think drilling right through is quiet the look intended. Mirror hooks are visable. I have in mind something that is "L" shaped that will fit the length on the headboard about 30mm down and the coresponding shape inverted on the wall. Would this work and what would I ask for at the builders merchants?
Do you think something as simple as this might be suitable. Fiddly to get the board into place, but solid once it's there.................

Hi TB
Thanks for the link, but with the weight of the headboad the screws needed will have to be longer than the depth of the headboard - so will show at the front.
Monday morning and not working. Are you a roofer? Builders not here today either - outside rendering.
I was thinking os screwing into the wall with long enough screws to do the job. Those brackets are then screwed into the back of the headboard with 3/8" (9mm) screws. Using 4 brackets....... that's 8 screws. That'll take what is simply a vertical load.
That way, the headboard will be tight up against the wall.

If you don't mind being off the wall somewhat, then battens screwed to the wall and the back of the board could be used. I'd have to draw you a diagram though. I could post it up for you. It's very hard to explain by writing.

Yes, roofwork, no problem :o)

^^^^^^ thinking "of" screwing ^^^
LOL you builders...saw a great t shirt the other day might suit you: http://www.boredpanda.com/butt-crack-cleavage-t-shirt/
Ha, Anne ......... that's sooo gross ;o) Good though.
Anyway, that's a plumber ............... 'nuff said ;o)
