Windows 8 Sony Vaio, Desktop Disappeared

I was updating Adobe flash and then my taskbar went sideways, I got that back but the whole desktop with icons has disappeared, I just have a blue screen and also nothing happens when I press the windows key, please help me to gt it back, thank you.

I think I've sorted it, thanks, I took the battery out for 20 secs and it seems to be OK now fingrs crossed.
