When you discover you have no carrots to have with your lovely meat and potato pie, then do as I've just done:
Search the freezer for a stew pack
Empty the contents of the stewpack into an empty saucepan
Pick out the slices of carrots with a spoon, repeat several times as they keep falling off the spoon and transfer to another saucepan.
Bash each slice liberally to remove other frozen vegetables, i.e. celery, onion, parsnip, swede.
Decide to have carrot and swede mash and repeat process with pieces of swede.
Explain to husband what you are doing bashing things around in the kitchen.
Spend half an hour on this mundane task.
Give yourself a pat on the back for being resourceful.
Come to the realisation that it would have been quicker to walk around to Lidl and buy some fresh carrots.
Pour yourself a drink.

They do Tilly but I have no phone, no TV, no computer over there and I like that. I read, sometimes a book a day, and cook and look round at all the building work that I'm not doing.......
It's a total chill that wouldn't be possible if the temptation of this buzzing box were present.
