My brother-in-laws coat has been attacked by moths! Apart from cutting off the damaged section at the bottom of the coat, has anyone any ideas how the WHOLE coat can be salvaged?!

Get the place treated for moths before he does anything!
Throw it away quickly,or the moths will get in to other clothing, even carpets if they're wool.
Agreed.

The coat is probably not salvagable, unless you are a reasonable seamstress.

Get the place treated.

Thanks everyone. What a shame - he loved that coat!
I have once actually saved a treasured skirt, but it was very laborious. You have to draw threads out from the insides of the seams or hems, and darn them into the holes. Very fiddly, as many of the threads will be short.
Do you have a local shop that does alterations, etc. Some of them do a service called 'Invisible Mending'. It is brilliant and you can rarely 'see the join'.
