/// Free prescriptions were introduced in Wales in 2007, Northern Ireland in 2010 and Scotland in 2011. ///

Why should England be the only part of the UK to have to pay for prescriptions?

Why does the EU allow this discrimination?

@AoG This post of yours is a fairly laughable attempt at a defence;

"Pity some cannot see into my irony, it was a dig at the EU, who seem to step in and protect others who do not deserve to be protected.

Perhaps a little too subtle for some, it would seem."
If the prescription charge were free for everyone in England, this would be another huge real cost to the already beleagured NHS. It's running on empty at the moment (particularly at this stage of the financial year) - if you want free prescriptions, something else (possibly for someone who really needs it) would have to go.
the NHS isn't skint, it's awash with money. It's just not being distributed correctly. Too many hospital trusts, managers, massive waste, it's not their money after all, and too many people trying to access services, that in effect they have never paid a penny towards, don't care where they come from.
