Road tax and insurance...

I have recently been involved in a major accident on the day I purchased my new car.

I was under the impression that the vehicle had road tax till mid january, which infact ran out 12/05. Will this invalidate my insurance? I know a lack of MOT would do this, but I'm unsure on Road tax vs insurance...

As someone said, car tax never runs out mid-month. So if you tax it now will it run out at the end of December 06, or January 07? I don't know the answer but if it is Dec. 06 then could you argue (if it is queried)that you have paid the tax for the whole of Jan. 06 - albeit paying it a bit late?

I don't know whether this would work but agree with previous posts that you should tax it now. If you then scrap it you can apply for refund later.
