No idea.....didn't know they did.

At a guess, the keen ones only, are going to test for kidney function..... Is your BP affecting your kidneys.

It's my dad who had them done. Maybe it is for kidney function. He had a stroke 10 years ago and he is on a lot of medication. He has a telephone appointment tomorrow with the doctor.
I am on bp medication called Ramipril. Before I started it they ran blood tests to see if my kidneys were OK. Later when I had the dosage changed they ran them again. I was told that Ramipril can have a worsening effect on your kidneys if you already have a problem.

The test was for various things, cholesterol etc. his blood glucose levels were a bit high so they are questioning diabetes.they are going to do another blood test to compare it with the result of the last blood test.
At our practice, if you attend the BP clinic you go twice a year and have bloods taken annually. This includes cholesterol, urea (I think) and a urine test sample to check for diabetes + a weigh-in.
My husband has annual blood checks Cholesteral, kidney function, liver function, sugar levels and occasionally thyroid is included. He has been on blood pressure and cholesterol medication for over 20 years now and apparentlly the medication can cause problems in these areas long term.
I'm not sure what BP tablets your dad is taking but Ramipril is witheld in cases where renal function is impaired. Hence blood tests are necessary.
