and did we buy too early? See here:-

Of course, it's never too early - we've had the use of ours. We can always put a bigger hard drive in anyway (once it's out of guarantee).

thanks for the headsup wide boy.........your too kind. Still really enjoying the LG it just gets better ..and you can only buy what's available at the time you buy.....and the new HD is a simple job so I'm satisfied with the 7500.

What about the Firmware upgrade?....you done it yet?...any difference or problems?..............

Thanks again wideboy........;-)

Downloaded the firmware but haven't installed it yet. It is supposed to fix some problems with DiVx playback, but I haven't tried much in the way of DiVx. The only problem I've found (thought I would have to send the model back) was that it wouldn't work with some older DV cameras (big name ones as well). But it works with newer ones.
Ok wideboy..........might do the same, get the upgrade and save it.............only vid. cam I have tried is my son's new Canon digital and that works fine. Not likely to see the problem that you mentioned with older cams.. DiVx.?..well I'll cross that one if and when it comes up........<G>

Have you tried connecting up a video recorder to the LG to transfer tapes to DVD? I dismantled the video recorder when we got the LG because I usually transfer tapes via the computer but a recent upgrade is giving problems with the sound. I might therefore have to dig out the video recorder again.
Hi wideboy..yes I have the SVHS Panasonic NV HS830....a superb machine which ironically was the reason for me buying the LG...it went us and looked dead and buried so as I wanted a DVD recorder it was just the excuse I needed to buy.....;-)

My wife decided to get the local repairman to have a look at it and as it turned out it was just a pinch roller (or something) that needed replacing. For a mere 30 it is now "good as new".

I linked them with scarts or what you will....and can just simply dubb tapes to the HD on the LG and then to DVD as and if I need to.

Best.......commoner.
Sorry wideboy.....I meant to include this link.....the third diagram is how I have mine............

Thanks for all that, commoner, diagrams will be very useful. I have a Ferguson SVHS connected to the computer and a 'spare' Panasonic SVHS (courtesy of a very good friend). May swap them over soon.
