I just got carried away and bought some cream leather sofas in the sale... a really good price but they have not been 'treated' for stains. What do you recommend I use against stains -- coffee, wine, ballpoint pen, etc. Although they won't be used every day, just my luck that someone will spill something on one of them. Should I use a leather protector .. and if so, can you recommend a product? Thanks everyone, you are always so helpful :-)

buy some saddle soap its good to give the settees a wash every 6 months you will be surprised how much dirt comes off..in the meantime use leather cream most supermarkets sell it..coffee and wine will easily wash off..dont know about ball point pen..but i spilled some nail varnish on mine ..and it wouldnt come off..so i quickly dabbed at it with nail varnish remover and then washed it just as fast with saddle soap before the nail varnish remover soaked in and it shifted it without damage...watch out for a man with no socks on rubbing his foot accross the leather fidgeting while he watches tv...mr m did that and the black leather colour wore off where his foot was it took ages for that to happen so dont panic..it must have been the acid in his skin..we have a new one now and i make him wear socks..bare feet are not allowed!!

try milk for ballpoint pen. Just dab some milk on the mark with a soft cloth leave for a couple of minutes then gentle rub off

A squirt of hairspray gets ball point pen off
