boxy...LOL.....OK..........but still no answers.
I don't know but maybe people with chronic long term illnesses are more susceptible to other ailments?
cazz....mmm!....right.
I go with gness- it would be too difficult from the point of view of administration to sort out epilepsy drugs from the rest, so it's easier to make all drugs free.
that is more likely slaney..
I think that's probably it, slaney - and some conditions give rise to other conditions.
McMouse...you need a more sympathetic GP...it can be done. Probably not one as sympathetic as ours. He prescribed so many I had to buy another bedside cabinet and include them on the probate forms when OH died. ;-)
Yes it has to be administrative as there is no logical medical reason for it.
Why do asthmatics not automatically qualify for free prescriptions? We are just as much (if not more so than some) at risk of death without our medication as someone with epilepsy, heart disease and all the other conditions that qualify.
daffy........good point.
This has always been a bugbear of mine as a life long asthma sufferer. I must have spent thousands over the years on prescriptions while Mr M (diabetic) and SIL (under active thyroid) got all 'scripts free. My condition is a lot more life threatening than SIL's it makes no sense at all.
ps. I'm not knocking those who do qualify just think it should be better thought out.
We're very lucky we get free prescriptions (for everyone!) here in Wales. My husband has a long term health problem and is always on lots of medication.

I agree with you Daffy, asthma should definitely qualify for free prescriptions.
