I've just heard a report that the Anglican and Roman Catholic churches may be planning to re-unite. Should they?

Lighter, with all due respect you are clearly past the point of no return. It would have been interesting to have an objective discussion on the subject, but never mind. Be happy.
Point of no return from what?
Question Author
Indoctrination.
Indoctrination by whom? God ?? Are you objecting that I believe what God says, as written in His inspired Word, the Bible?

I live a very joyous, happy, peaceful, fulfilling life, with a close and personal fellowship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner saved by grace.

And you come out with the word 'indoctrination' as if we're talking about Marxism, facism or evolutionism.
Just because I believe in the God that made man, not a man made God.
A little judgmental I think.

If you want a discussion why don't we discuss your objection to me believing the Bible. And why you put down my belief of the God revealed in Scripture, and the reasons why you think your idea of God is more valid than mine.
Sorry to sound like a novice to this subject but if god is all powerful and knew that people sin, well first he(or it) made a design fault in the human and because he made this mistake he thought I'll go to all the trouble of making a woman give birth so later in life as the child grows can die for the mistake he made.
That seems quite nasty to me.

Lighter, you don't sound joyous, peaceful or happy at all. You sound angry . When anyone has the audacity to hold an opinion that differs from yours, I can practically hear you shouting!
Question Author
Hi Luna, that's the most sensible thing anyone has said during this discussion. Well done!!
Shouting? Well perhaps typing a little too loud......... :-)
My friends would have a laugh at what you wrote about me, as I must be one of the most placid people they know.
But if I've appeared to be angry then I apologise, I guess it must be my writing style or whatever.

Still doesn't get you off the hook as to why you think your idea of God is more valid than mine.

(I see Luna got a well done. Glad he didn't have the audacity to have a different opinion than YOU !) :-)
"I never get stars ..... "
(a single teardrop trickles slowly down Thelands cheek, as he walks slowly, sobbing, out of the room).

There, there, Theland. Is that better? Now stop crying, there's a good boy.
I enjoy these discussions(not being sarcastic) very much but have very little to offer in the way of making comparisons with the bible and the stories of Jesus and god with my own simplistic views on the subject/s.
I have looked at the bible(don't know which version) and thought it had some interesting philosophical passages and can sort of understand why some may use it as a guide in their lives and the significant story that runs alongside it but my own beliefs are to be kind and considerate to all and use our physical time on this planet to hopefully enjoy it, learn from our experiences and pass on our knowledge to those we spend our lives with.
Some may say that sounds like a religion; Well maybe so but I didn't need a book to learn that or follow anyone's example,it just works.
Thanks naomi24 for the stars but I think Theland and Lighter deserve some for keeping this conversation going with their interesting analogies on religion and their beliefs.
Question Author
Others rarely see us as we see ourselves, Lighter. Didn't realise I was on the hook though - doesn't feel like it - but I'm happy to hang around if you want me to.

You've twisted my words. I didn't say that my idea of god is more valid than yours. I said my idea of god is not the same as yours - and that's very different.

And the reason I said 'well done' to Luna is not because she didn't disagree with me - I don't mind people disagreeing with me because that's what debate is all about - but she did make a very logical and thoughtful observation - as I said the most sensible comment that's come out of this discussion so far.
Question Author
I agree with you Luna. We don't need religion and all the problems that causes the world - and I'm not talking solely of Christianity - we only need to love and respect one another.
Hi naomi24, I've just fell off my chair from laughter. That's the problem with "answerbank", we can't see one another.
The "she" you spoke of (that's me) is a "He". :0)
Question Author
Oh how funny, sorry Luna. I've always thought of you as a 'she'. I do apologise - but I'm really pleased to have given you a laugh. Proves you never know who you're talking to, but laughing's a good way to start the day - so have a nice one.
No need to apologise. I should imagine it happens alot on this site.
Bye for now
Enjoy your day.
