The contestants were asked for words ending in "ear", no proper nouns, so the guy said Tupperware
The two physicists scored 200, the maximum bad score, neither thought of nuclear, nor all the other compound words ending in nuclear, most of which were pointless.

Got yesteryear. Pointless!
now watching it, taped earlier, just seen the first student blow his own trumpet and then get it wrong. Great stuff.
got swimwear and nightware, and was shouting at the girl go on have something nuclear, you ARE a physicist!
when watching Pointless I am fascinated by the shape of the presenter's nose. It is distracting me for some reason and I wonder if it has always loo
oked like that.
Under pressure people can come up with all sorts of rubbish. I remember rather sadly being unable to do 5*11 (effectively) when in front of the cameras. Even so managed to guess the answer.
On face the clock earlier a contestant was asked "What is the 2nd largest of the chnnel Islands" The answer given was "Isle Of Wight"
perhaps that's it, the nerves get the better of people, you see it on mastermind, they sit there as though facing a firing squad, if one question is wrong the person can fall to pieces, sweating and obviously wishing they were someplace else.
Believe me, its a lot easier when you are sitting at home! We had to think of countries with only one vowel. I had pre programmed myself (not very well!) that if a 'country' question came up, see if Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan or Cormoros fitted the category. All 3 do...and I didn't think of any of them!!! Don't criticise until you've tried doing it for real!
True, it's easier when you're sitting at home. On 15-2-1 I only managed to answer 1 question. Watching it, I could reel off correct answers.
I think the presenter Alexander Armstrong has always had that shape of nose. I saw him in a detective story a few weeks ago and he was much fatter then than he is now and the shape of nose was the same.
The continued repeating of " to see if its pointless, and see how many people said it" gets on my nerves.
I noticed that Richard pronounced it the American way, i.e. nu-cu-lar.
He did the same with thermo -nu-cular as well, which then means that they don't end in -ear any more.
