Coca cola has Carbohydrates of which 10g sugars but when i checked same sized cloudy lemonade bottle it was only 0.2g sugars - can there really be such a huge difference in fizzy drinks ? - so is it time to ditch cola for cloudy lemonade ?
IF so , i am surprised this has not been recommended by food agencies before

Has the lemonade got a load of sweetners as well? .0.2g seems very low.
I don't drink any fizzy drinks myself, but some are definitely worse than others.
all the non diet ones are about the same. what you are looking at must have sweeteners in it.

Coca cola is highly acidic and needs lots of sugar to make it drinkable

Aren't the sweeteners counted in labelling as part of sugar content ? -or is this another misleading label?
no you will look for words like saccharine, aspartame and so on. all of the soft drinks that i like all ahve about the same amount of sugar in....ginger beer, coke, lemonade and rather posh orange drinks. I avoid diet drinks and those that are part sweetened with sweetener as the have a strong aftertaste and make e feel unwell.
The sweeteners will be very low in the sugar section but you might be shocked by the amount of carbohydrates.
Usually the sweetener used is aspartame which has had a lot of bad press recently.

Whether any of this is true or just scaremongering by the press is anyones guess but definitely something to consider.

The FSA state that it's safe

IMHO cola or any other fizzy drinks can only be bad for you. Best stick to water or natural fruit juices without anything artificial.
but natural fruit juice is very sugary indeed.
A friend of mine was being effectively slow-poisoned by Aspartame so I try to avoid it. Not easy these days.
