Maggie has said how special her 60th Birthday was,

Mine too was special, I was told by my daughters they would be picking me up at 8.30 in the morning for a special day out. I had nO Idea about it. I found myself at Eustan station & on a train we got over 3 hours later we were booking into a hotel in Manchester.
After lunch a Taxi arrived (I still didn't know where we were going) after about 10 mins I guessed, Yes we were going to Coronation St What a fab day it was, met Emily & Jack D.
Thats not the end, sitting in the bar in the evening who should walk in but my old dear friend who had moved to that area 5 years before & I had missed her so much. We had a super evening meal together.

My daughters had been plotting for months.

I may well be there!
Haha, that was 4 years ago after several large glasses, you have a much better memory than me for someone who is 10 years older :)
I had three different 'dos' when I was 70 - two years ago. One was a group of friends and we went for lunch to a local Italian restaurant and my daughter arranged for champagne to be served to all of us, which was a lovely surprise. Then I got together with another group of friends who were at school with me (some of them since 1945), and then a friend cooked a meal for several of us who lived in Skegness in the 70's when all our children were small.
So it was really rather a special time which lasted for a few weeks.

I think your day sounds wonderful, Jemisa - a lot of thought had gone into it.

Loved all your stories thankyou for adding to my thread. Us "old 'uns" don't do too bad do we?

Chris, you almost had me in tears, I wish I could be at your birthday bash. :)

Jem.....I think we've had the best of times. When my daughter's sixty she will still have years of working ahead......doubt she will have a group of early retired friends having a good time.
My 60th, OH gave me a card and a kiss, that was it, at my request btw.
For my 60th I was whisked away to Edinburgh for a short break. It was great, it snowed and Edinburgh came to a standstill. That was NovDec 2010.
Im not sure but I dont think ive reached that age yet, Im not one to celebrate my birthdays to be honest, I prefer they come and go with as little fuss as possible.
Here's another suggestion for your birthday Chris.

Its the Camra AGM being held in Norwich on your birthday with visits to breweries and all sorts. http://www.agmnorwich2013.org.uk/
Me & my best mate are celebrating our 60ths with a joint party. We've hired a concert room, booked a band & invited loads of people including a load from the rugby club where we used to play together......should be an interesting night!

Whether you're not quite there or you're past that magic 60th I hope it is or was as enjoyable as mine.

Excel, I've got a Roy boy but if you agree to be my 'Toyboy' I'll put you on my keyring and take you everywhere with me, and we'll have a few laughs between us.
