..By a band or artist you thought you might like to hear an album by, but just don't like?

I bought the first Kings Of Leon album on the strength of "Molly's Chambers", but can't remember the last time I played it.

metal machine music by lou reed, bought a few days after release. like many I was disappointed enough by the impenetrable white noise to return it for a refund. silly me, it would have been worth loads today.

Keane _ hopes and fears. What a load of tripe, I got it cause I softened a little to Somewhere Only We know but then realised that the same stooopid piano pop travels the whole way through. For gods sake have they got something against the guitars that they used to play with...oh yes they did. Whats the most disappointing thing about this album is that everyone else sod*ing loves it.

The Magic Numbers' debut album.

Bought the album after i heard two songs I really liked from them, but the rest of the album is bland.

Played it twice, and I've enever looked at it again.
Be here now by oasis...it sucked.

jamesy boy, have to disagree about the Kings of Leon album, it was constantly played in my car for about 12ths after I bought it!

I do agree with Dreddnaught though, I also bought the Magic Numbers album on the strength of the first two singles and have listened to it twice at a push!

For me it was The Darkness, first album, can't even remember the name of it it was that good. I gave it away in the end.

American Life - Madonna

Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants - Oasis

Paranoid And Sunburnt - Skunk Anasie

Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins

Won't happen any more - not with legal download sites that allow you to preview tracks.

but sometimes the best albums need time to grow on you.i have thought that some of my (now)favourite albums were terrible after one listen but then you hear a song on the radio or just give the album another chance and you 'discover' it properly.

a simple preview will deny you a possible classic.

Radiohead - Kid A - Dirge compared to their earlier brilliant works.

I see your point. I've had a couple of experiences like that - where I've had an album for months, and then suddenly 'got it'. However, if I'd previewed the albums I listed (except Madonna's), I know I wouldn't have bought them...for me the disappointment came because the albums didn't seem anything like the lead singles off them.

Madonna's was a disappointment because it wasn't anywhere near as good as her two previous releases.

The Skunk Anansie one just scared the living daylights out of me.

The Darkness, Permission To Land. Utter Sh1te!

Parachutes by Coldplay. Just one decent song (Yellow).

Back in the mid 90s I was heavily into all things Britpop (about the only time in my life I've ever been trendy!) and bought some cracking albums. Two that did let me down in my over-enthusiasm were All Change by Cast (somewhat disappointing) and K by Kula Shaker (absolutely terrible - what was I thinking?) Thank goodness for e-bay!

daniel powter on the strenght of bad day its awful dont buy it!

kings of leon album i still play think its great!

i disagree with goodsoulette - i thought keane's album was wicked. but gorillaz new album demon days was a real dissapointment, the singles were great but the rest of the album is rubbish
now i disagree with you milkybarkid demons day is ace. We had better not go drinking together, lol. The only problem with that is it wsnt as good as their debut album but critically better rated.
ooops..... demon days even.
