NOT what I need before I go to work.

Just had a call from my son's geography teacher(yes at this time in the morning!). Said son didnt attend a level 3 detention after school yesterday. Another one! Well I picked him up yesterday so he wouldnt have been able to justify me sitting outside the school for half an hour so he clearl decided to just not go! This is becoming a regular occurence and I am at my wits end. He has changed beyond all recognition and I dont know what to do.

Ironically i picked him up because he had a private tutor at home to go through the entrance exams for a private school i am trying to get him into, because he has got in with the wrong crowd, but at this rate it is becoming a joke. They will have one conversation with his school and run a mile.

I just dont know what to do anymore.

He is very bright(yes I know all mums say that lol) and i in top set for every subject, but is now getting told off daily and at least one detention a week. The school are meant to send a slip home giving 24 hours notice of a detention but they dont. they just keep the kids back for up to an hour.
Just a thought Smo - is that that the school doesn't send notice (via son) or that son isn't handing it to you?
Question Author
No the school isnt sending it.
Sorry to read of your trouble smow. Just an idea, threaten the lad that you will take him to school everyday and give him a big hug and lots of kisses in front of all his so-called friends. The embarassment might bring him round. Failing that there is always the piece of 3"x4" with a nail in it and beat him over the head. (The last bit was a joke, but you know you want to! ;-0
better idea, send him to live with despot!! Sorted

LOL, very tempting!
I reckon gness would square him up.
Make sure you tell him how much you care.
Question Author
I did tell him yesterday, told him I just wanted the best for him and that I didnt want him to waste these years. Peer pressure can be v difficult.
Just ban everything he enjoys for a limited period - mobile phone, TV, video games, computer, going out, friends etc etc. Don't bother with the private school - he'll do fine where he is if you and the school work together to solve the current problems.
Question Author
Problem is his current school has been put into Special measures by Ofsted - it scored the lowest possible score in all categories.
