I was once crippled with sciatica and a friend offered me reiki. To say I was a sceptic is an understatement.
He held his hand a couple of inches away from the small of my back for about 5 mins. I then stood up and the pain had completely gone.

Hmmm very interesting mrs o. Ta for reply. Anyone else out there too?

Anyone else got thoughts on reiki?? I was kinda thinking of having this done.
It might do some good, as in the case of Mrs O, and can surely do no harm.
If you have a problem have you seen your doctor?
A friend of mine treated my sciatica with reflexology which worked really well for a year but it came back and I had more treatment after which she suggested I also try some reiki as she had done a course so I said why not?
Not sure exactly what happened but I felt all nice and relaxed afterwards and I can honestly say I've never been bothered since.
Colleague on work practices it, all other colleagues who've experienced it from her swear by it, but more from the relaxed nature than pain relief I believe.

Not tried it myself.
Mr BM does reiki. Really he did it for himself, but every now again he "treats" me (either head aches or my chronic rsi). I thought it was new age hocus pocus, but it DOES work. I have no idea why/how.

I also tend to feel very very relaxed and sleepy afterwards.

Hmm all very interesting. I was thinking about going for some bad depression which hit out of the blue (yes I have seen dr and am on meds) I kinda feel like "something" is outta kilter in my subconciousness as normally I bounce back from anything. I won't stop the meds of course but reiki is just a thought too.
My mother in law is a Reiki Master and she has done wonders for various ailments I have had, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommended it, but my ex ( her daughter) can't stand it, it makes her feel hot, flu-like, weepy and generally horrible so she avoids it like the plague. It's been done several times now so it's definately the Reiki but I've only ever heard of a couple more people it doesn't suit, everyone else, like me thinks it's brilliant.
I've not had reiki but I had an Indian head massage the other day - it was wonderful.
...and evedawn - yes, in your circumstances I'd try it!
My cousin is trained in it, as is my aunt and her brother (who treats Michael Flatley)

I've had a it couple of times and did notice an improvement for a few days. Always made me feel tired after.
