Just seen pics of snow in Jerusalem which is supposedly now...yet looking on the weather website,it is showing up as sunny today with a temperature of 14C...??????????

Jerusalem got cut off by snow at least twice in the 1970s. The road and rail links from Tel Aviv are very steep, as Jerusalem is so high. The Israelis don't keep snow-ploughs, but send out the army with shovels, since snow is so rare. But when frost hits Israel, it ruins the crops of jaffas and other tender fruits. Not that unusual - across the border, I have been in Amman on many a snowy day, even in Riyadh when it was 1 degree and wet - hilarious watching the Saudis trying to keep their Thobes out of the water, never mind a lot of them were still wearing sandals.

You can buy Christmas cards in Bethlehem showing the holy places covered in snow. Very pretty, and entirely authentic - if uncommon
