It's so sad really, on our daily ride around Guernsey we did a detour more inland. Found a B & Q and it was open, also a huge Waitrose that was shut. We almost ran in B & Q,sheer enjoyment of something different to do and seeWe will save Waitrose for tomorrow. Weather permitting we are booked on a ferry at 20.40
landing around midnight so a hotel in Poole and HOME the next day.
We have to check out of the hotel by 11.00 a.m. so have quite a few hours to kill.
We have been treated wonderfully by hotel staff and Holiday company who never quibbled over anything and offered at the start to pick up the hotel/food costs for all enforced stay.
I have bought sea sickness tablets so am feeling better about the crossing.
Please keep everything crossed that it happens please lovely people.

Safe journey home Cara x
Safe home Caran. x
Good luck carandrog. I live between Poole and Weymouth and today has been a lovely sunny calm day and all the wind has gone so hopefully you will have a smooth crossing home.

Thanks for all good wishes folks
Oh bless you, Carandrog, I surely will cross it all in hope for you. Meanwhile enjoy a mooch around B&Q, maybe look out for some raft building materials xxx
Hi carol. To think - you will be a mere 5 miles from me tomorrow - scary, or what? Have a smooth crossing and welcome home.

B&Q - as in Barfing & Queezy ? I do hope not ;)
I think all the awful weather has passed by now Caran, hope you have a safe calm crossing and then when you arrive home, a really special belated birthday celebration - you won't forget your 70th in a hurry will you? ;) xx

Ann, I certainly will not forget my 70th, because it was so unmemorable. But when you look at the rest of the world it isn't a big deal really. I have been so lucky in other ways. I can celebrate with family later. The New Years Eve do we were supposed to go to was a bit of a flop so we saved about £150 by not going, so that's a blessing.

don't forget to get your cheap fags on the ferry.
Question Author
baza do they really have cheap fags, I don't smoke but OH does rollups. Never made it to dutyfree coming over as it was so rough, couldn't stand up.
made the mistake going out thinking they were cheap on the island as they were in the 70's, made up for it coming back on our last visit 2 years ago.

We will go and have a looksee.
You will have that telescope out shouting "Land A-Hoy!" when approaching England!

Beware the South coast, the noise will be horrendous, you have been warned!
They will think it's a fog horn sounding ;) LOL
Have a wonderful shopping browse around Waitrose today Caran - ha ha bet you can't wait! If you lived nearer to me I would ask you to buy some Barry Norman Pickled Onions - (yes, THE Barry Norman, its a family recipe apparently) we can only get them in Waitrose and we have to buy them on our holidays whenever we see a waitrose as there is not a store very near us! They are the best pickled onions EVER (according to OH) and it seems they are being discontinued as getting harder and harder to get now :)
