hi there....i bought a jumper from china via ebay. it doesn't fit and i had a look on the post office website for return carriage costs - and the cheapest option is £30+!!!! this can't be right, surely? that's more than twice the cost of the original item. have i done something wrong or has anyone out there got any idea of the cost? i've also just got an email from the sender saying postage is high and can we 'come to an arrangement'.....i'm not holding out much hope now! x

Could you try selling it yourself on eBay? Hopefully you'll get more than you've paid for it, or at least break even.
Just resell it.
Buying from China means you have no consumer rights, so the seller doesn't have to accept returns. If you does he doesn't have to refund your p&p costs to either send it to you or return it.

It's a risk you take when buying from overseas, especially outside the EU
Sadly that's a risk you take buying on Ebay - either there are no returns allowed or it costs too much to return. I know from experience as I have a huge pile of things to re-sell on Ebay when I can read up how to do it! - New Year Resolution!
Someone I know bought a wedding dress on ebay for only £9 and that was from China as well.
The postage was nearly £80!!!
That sounds like you've entered it as a parcel, rather than as a small packet. A 1kg small packet costs £14.08 to send by airmail or £8.11 by surface mail:

Always remember when buying clothes from China that the Chinese people are much smaller than Europeans (generally), a medium sized top here would be XL or XXL there. My oh just bought a top on Ebay from China and was warned of this in the sale blurb.

thanks everyone....lesson learned! cheers chris, although if i sent it at £8-9 it would make it pretty worthless, especially if i could resell it on ebay for more. ann86!!! you have the rest of today to put your items for sale for free!!! lisa x
...and tomorrow, lisa, the free listing is on until Jan 1st. :-)

Good result!
I have had one disaster form overseas and have noticed that their sizes [ unless from the usa] are much smaller than UK sizes and I mean much smaller be warned.
