Adding the Ram seems to be easy enough but I want more Hard Drive space too. I bought it and will tackle that in a couple weeks.

My OS is Windows XP Home with SP2.

I have no idea about partitioning etc or if this is even necessary.

I would like to do it myself if not too complicated.

Adding another hard drive is quite easy, you dont need to worry about partitioning it if you dont want to, there is no beneft. Just make sure you earth yourself before opening up the machine and you may need to go in to your bios after fitting it just to let it know its there. Good Luck.
if you want to keep the current hard drive too, it'll be simple. you can just use the new one for all your stuff, and thats it.

if you want to transfer everything, including windows itself, onto the new drive, then you can use a program like Norton Ghost to do it for you very easily.

Basically, you'll probably find that the cable that your current hard drive is plugged into also has another connection available on it. its just a case of plugging it in like the current hard drive is, with power too. note the jumper settings on the back of your current and new hard drive. there has to be a slave and a master. if your current is master, make the new one slave.
