Epson ink compatible

I have in the past someway or other been able to overcome the chip in the Epson ink cartridge enabling me to use a compatible, but I've completely forgotten how I did this. Can anyone enlighten me? It can be done because I've done it by means of confusing the printer!

Like you I stumble through but what mostly works for me is load the new cartridge,disregard all the messages,open a photo and select print.
