It's the people that make it romantic not so much the place. A nice candlelit meal somewhere is romantic. A
walk in the park with a picnic can be romantic. A stroll along a Carribean beach is romantic. It is what you make it.

The most romantic thing that happened to me occurred by a friend's death bed. He had wanted to date me when we were teenagers, but I was going out with his friend and was happy in that relationship. Sixteen years later when he was dying, he told me he'd always loved me and wanted one kiss. It still makes me cry, today.
I suppose my point is, there are no romantic places, just situations with people you care about, that are intensely moving and never forgotten.

The most romantic place I have ever been in my 25 years of marriage was this year a little island in greece called Santorini the place to be is a town called Thira overlooking the most fantastic view includes a volcano sea the works sat in a bar drinking wine and blowers daughter song playing I cant take my eyes of you by Damien Rice was pure magic !

15 years ago I honeymooned at the Sandy Lane hotel in Barbados.

We dined on the terrace in the moonlight,the sound of the sea gently lapping onto the beach,the palm trees,the warm breeze,romance incapsulated.

Ok, you want to go somewhere romantic? I'm assuming with someone.....its true what others are saying about it being the moment rather than the place - but in my opinion, places likes Budapest, Prague and other such medievil cities are rather romantic. Plus very affordable if you're a fan of flying Easy Jet! Budapest (also known as Paris of the East) has great SPA's which cost no more than a fiver for a few hours....if you want to stay closer to home, the Lake District takes some beating.
