I take statins, mine was 8.1 it is now down to at the last test to 3.2
Sqad is right, I know, because my brother's heart specialist has told him the same thing, but I still think it has done me good losing a bit of weight. I can certainly move about with more ease, and the weight off my bones has got rid of some of the pain of arthritis. Not all, but it is very much better.
Tried garlic some time ago and it didn't do a thing for me. I gave it a long trial but nothing happened.
Sqad, I disagree with you that the only thing that lowers cholesterol is statins. I did it myself and have never had any statins and have no intention of having them after seeing the problems they caused my husband. I know that the statin producers are making billions of pounds out of the industry and the more people they can convince that this is their only remedy the richer they become.

I hear the miracle cure is Pomegranate Juice or Capsules - anyone taken that route and, if so, how have you got on?
I disagree with Sqad - I also disagreed with my own GP. My reading was 7.3 (HDL 1.2 and LDL 5.2). He prescribed me statins and I told him if I could not reduce it myself by diet and exercise then I would accept his advice. I got it down to 5.0 in 3 months (HDL remained at 1.2 but my LDL reduced to 3.4).
