there is no difference at all, apart from some dvd recorders/players can play/record 1 type and some the other. google for the name of yoour dvd writer/player and you will undoubtedly find the compatability for your hardware. most newer player/recorders can play both but you should still check first just in case. if yours can only read +r and you buy -r they will not work.

There is a difference in that they are different formats.


Its a repeat of the old VHS/Betamax war but this time neither format has emerged victorious as the industry standard so hardware manufacturers generally produce dual-standard machines.


Before the situation sorts itself out, both formats willl be obsolete anyway when the new 20GB disks based upon a different technology are released.
