Report him/her to ACAS would be a start I should think.
but dont do what I did and put up with it and then foolishly resign

The further the bully goes, the more destructive they become, so you need to act fast.

The first step is to confront the menace. Go to the person who' s doing harassing and try to determine why it' s happening and how to stop it.

You should keep a journal of the abusive experiences. If the confrontation doesn' t work, you should seek people who have experienced similar problems and go to the next level.

If you are in a union, you can take your complaints to a union representative. Otherwise you will have to go to the bully's boss.

Either way, when things are getting hairy at the workplace, communication becomes essential, but the communication has to be directed to an individual who can do something about the problem.

You' ve got to talk to someone in a position to solve it, not just moan to colleagues. You are not alone, help can be found here:

Good luck.

Send him a Xmas card saying 'Even though you are a miserable bully - we realise its because you are basically very unhappy deep down SO just to wish you a very Happy Xmas and lets hope you cheer up in 2006 and stop making everyone who works for you miserable as well! Print it and whatever you do, don't sign it!

Can you try to get in touch with somebody who is higher up in the company?
If not your Union might be able to help.
If he's a male, bop him one, if a female, shag her!!
