as any one else been to lincoln christmas market this year and parked your car at the park and ride site? £15.00 its outrageous!, what does anyone else think, especially when there is literally no where else to park, as all the streets are closed off. nice little earner for lincoln council £115 every 7 cars!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've not been to the market for years, but my niece is at Uni there and there's plenty of parking where she lives. I certainly wouldn't pay £15 park and ride.

I used to do the Lincoln CM every year. THe only reason we haven't this year is that I was too busy to the end of the week and my heating needed fixing today.

I think its gone a bit OTT. I remember parking the car for tuppence happeny and getting the bus in. Even then it was packed (and they employed a one way system). It's cheaper for us to get the train. But no chance we will get there this year.

What a rip-off. I would have liked to go to the Christmas Market, it was shown on our local tv programme. Don't think I'll bother it will be an expensive day out travelling all that way.

Lincoln Council won't be getting much of that money. Bradson's Event Services have the contract to supply the Park & Ride service (as part of their running of the Christmas Market). They'll have to pay high fees to Lincolnshire Agricultural Society for the use of the showground, plus paying the companies whom they've hired the buses from.

Most 'ordinary' Park & Ride services run at a substantial loss (which is why many councils, such as Ipswich, have been closing P&R sites). However £12 to £15 per car still sounds rather high, particularly to people who (like me) are usually on their own. It makes sense, of course, to encourage people to use regular public transport services but not everyone can access them.

didn't realize that the money went to a private company, no wonder it was expensive, the market it self didn't seem so good as previous years, more food stalls than craft and gift stalls, and it was very busy, had quite a struggle to get to the stalls, but the atmosphere was quite good. i expect i will go again next year!!!!!!!!!!!

That's exactly what I'd want to see in a good Christmas market!
(I only have to buy a few presents and they're unlikely to be the type of stuff that you get on Christmas markets. I only go for the Stollen and the mulled wine!)
