Trans-fats are the 'harmful' substance in mince pies. I can't remember what they are exactly, but there's a starting point.

That programme was really mean, can these bloody scientists stop telling us that everything is bad for us!?

But the scientist are stuck in the who to blame loop that society is getting more and more into these days. If they don't tell every little detail of what might be a problem then somebody somewhere (probably the US first) will start a court case with the basis that - ''if you knew this was not good for me then why didn't you say so''.
I base this opinion on cases like the fast food thing where companies like McD and KFC etc..are getting taken to court for forcing people to overeat and get fat and ill or the hot coffee case where somebody spilled hot coffee on herself and then claimed that nobody told her it was hot.

i think if things like trans fats etc were hidden from us then it would be extremly harmful, i like to make my mind up myself on the things i eat as i like to eat healthily and feed my family right, so i will be limiting the mince pies this year.

The information we are now recieving in my opinion, makes it easier to make these informed choices. After all, if someone had a diet of mince pies and had a heart attack, as qapmoc says they would probably sue!

by the way jeanpaul, i have answered this in your question in film and tv too

merry christmas!!!

Thank you so much for answering my question.

I really am grateful that you have all taken the time and effort to respond.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to you all.

By the way qapmoc, the woman who successfully sued for burning herself with the coffee was actually driving her car at the time. The law is an ass.
