Pasta I suppose it makes a change from immigrants, muslims and single mothers!!
what if your're an obese immigrant muslim gay single mother?
I agree 100% with woofgang, pasta and jake. I can bet not one of these people want the humiliation of being rescued from their houses by the fire brigade, they probably spend a lot of time hating themselves and depressed. when you dig deeper there are lots of powerful issues connected to their obesity. However lots of people prefer to just stick the boot in.
Well it is obvious the fire service do not think it is their responsibility

Some brigades say they will only attend a medical emergency while London Fire Brigade is billing ambulance services £312 an hour if they send for them
Yes, they have a duty in such cases. The only other answer is that which applied to an obese dog I had; she got stuck in a rabbit hole somewhere, when out rabitting with her slim sisters, and was lost for 13 days. She turned up much thinner, having wasted away enough to escape. That doesn't seem much of an answer; it was an unwitting one in that case; because you'd still have to ensure that the 'fatty' had water during their temporary imprisonment, so someone would have to be in attendance.
fluff then the world is your oyster and you will get all the benifits that you want and a million pound house.

On a serious note who would want to be that size? They need help not scorn and laughter!
"They need help not scorn and laughter!" totally agree

I wasnt poking fun or being unsympatetic here. Just curious how people felt about whether it qualifies as the fire services duty of care remit. The majority here do.
Aren't they 'fire and rescue'?
I don't think anyone thought you were jd.

Ummmm, true. I work closely with the Fire and Rescue river rescue department. Who, at no doubt great expense each time, are called out to people who voluntarily jump into the river. Should there response be "let them drown, they jumped..." Ofcourse not.
thanks mamya. So it's basically to do with equipment. I'm not advocating ignoring them, just wondering why it was left to the fire service (it seems more like a health thing to me, but I suppose doctors don't have whatever it needs to get people out of bathtubs).

Just submit your written request for help and join the end of the queue, fluff, a fireman will be with you shortly
Fat people are always getting stuck up in trees round our way.
