I have painted my kitchen cabinet doors with a spray gun and the effect is really good. I need to put a hardwearing top coat on, could anyone tell me if a clear varnish or a lacquer would be the best.?

Think I'd go for varnish, but make sure you use a UV proof one or it will slowly darken over the years.
Yacht Varnish would probably be the best, as that withstands sea water and spray. With the cabinets being in a kitchen that would be the best option to withstand steam and fumes from cooking.
