I ask because Nationwide has just e-mailed with a competition offering a tour as a prize.

Wouldn't be much of a prize if they DIDN'T do tours...

Granada Studios still do tours as far as I know. Don't know how much though.
Sorry I've no idea of cost, my late mum went on a Corrie tour and thought it was wonderful.
They pay you for going.

I was thinking that they might make special arrangements for the Nationwide winners. It's not a comp I'll be entering as you have to find you own way to Manchester.
You will know when you are close sandy it's the barriers and red lamps that give it away.
i thought it closed years ago
does it not mean the stage show

Dotty, it's a tour of the set they're offering.
it's not the same tour that used to be at the granada studios, that had a mock 10 downing street and a room where everything was big like alice in wonderland .we went when the kids were little.
My grandparents went years ago and they had a video done where they are kind of floating at the end of the bar having a 'conversation' with Betty. I had forgotten all about it until now.
sounds like it's a special then, just for the competition winners
ahhh that's not the same as the granada studio tour of years ago, it's a one off and a proper prize, there's no such thing now and so no entrance fee
We once went to Granada, Manchester as audience in a Game show - The Price is Right. We had a look around the Rovers Return, (very small and dingey) while we were hanging around to go in to the studio. Turned out to be a wasted day for us, one of the producers of the show was found dead in his dressing room so the show was cancelled for the day. We were with a coach load of people from Bridlington so went to Junction32 shopping centre instead.
I went many years ago, you could walk down the street but couldn't go in the houses as they were just a facade. Each house had its own set that we went in. We went in the Rovers it felt very small. Also did the Houses of parliament and 10 Downing Street, There was a cinema showing special effects films like riding on a big dipper and the big wheel, very realistic. I seem to remember a Lady Penelope car but I cannot think in what context, it was a long time ago.
Oh gosh, went on the old tours a good few times years ago, usually associated with a Brewery knees up - we caused quite a scene in the House of Commons...also cobbles and high heels don't go hand in hand.

Caran - yes the Pink Cadillac was as you went in, near the American diner with a helicopter on the roof.
Yes Mamya I remember now.
When you were watching the films, the rows of seats moved to simulate the movement of the rides you were on, it was really scary, You know I haven't thought of this for years, it's really bringing back some memories. We had a drink in the Rovers but not allowed to serve alcohol, it was watered down something.

It's nice to see that a question can help evoke good memories. My good deed for the day :-)
