I think it's Chris de Burgh.
Question Author
do you know the name of it>?

" A Spaceman came Travelling" by C de B

Gareth Gates trying to sing Alleluia
Could it be Jona Lewie with Stop The Cavalry ,thats quite depressing ;-)
Could b Johnny Mathis When a Child is Born!
lol @ ELVIS!!
Might even be David Bowie and Bing Crosby with Little Drummer Boy
Its Chris de Burgh.... from Spanish Train album. Check out... http://www.cdeb.com/cdebnew/lyrics/spaceman.html
Definitely Chris de Bleurggh's A Spaceman Came Travelling. The "sad and depressing" is a bit of a giveaway ;-p.
Is it about Christmas? I have it on a tape but everthings cd now and my tape machine thingy doesn't work now.

If its depressing,

then it must be chris de burgh...arghhhhh

Maggie01 - Its sort of about the birth of the baby Jesus (hes the one on the cards you have left at the end and send to people you dont like, but once upon a time he was as big at Christmas-time as Slade, you bunch of heathens). The spaceman hung over a village like a star (see what he did there?) and then when 2000 years have gone by the song will begin once again. I felt cheated when it didnt happen. Does anyone else remember the monobrowed adulterer being interviewed at Dis funeral? I like the Spanish Train album but I cant forgive the Lady in Red and that interview was sickening/hilarious at the same time.
Sounds like the song by The Snowmen. That had a bit that went la la la la la la etc. and is on loads of compilations. Its a christmas classic.

When the red red robin comes bob bob bobbin along-

Wake up. Wake up you sleepy head.

Get up. Get up get out of bed.

They'll

be no sob sobbing when he comes bobbing along
I think its Franki - Power of Love, that starts up something like that.
Absolutely it's Chris de Burgh
