As one who once tried to defend him, (please distinguish this from supporting him), then I seriously hope this is the end of his election campaign?
I suppose if you do not believe in climate change, then you cannot believe in dishing out money for its effects. It seems rather a hard line stance to take just before an election and will probably lose hom a lot of votes. You must remember too, the criticism of President Bush for his lacklustre response to Hurricane Katrina. If you are rich enough, you do not live in areas prone to natural disasters.
I do not belive in the cult climate change per se, but I believe in disaster relief, as should any humane person.
He might need some Disaster Relief himself after the election.
I'll be amazed if he wins, despite Obama being a lame duck.
Romney does have some decidedly odd views. It does seem the election is Obamas to lose, rather than Romneys to win, if you know what I mean.

I wonder what impact if any the hurricane will have on voting etc?
Don't know if its relevant as such but that article is dated June 14 2011 - so not really current news
If you consider the core values of right-wing thinking, MR's statement is absolutely correct. If the individual is the only legitimate unit in society, then using any kind of public aid to alleviate the effects of disasters is not acceptable. Taken to its logical conclusion, this line of thought sees death from starvation as the solution to famine. So dying from the effects of a hurricane , ditto - in both examples, the needy sufferer ceases to be needy and certainly won't be needy in the future.
The reaaly scary part is that many believe this is god's will. God would not allow people to be poor or die in hurricanes if it wasn't meant to be that way.

The core of laissez-faire politics.

Morally repugnant.
Are the post of an extreme lefty above.

Right wingers do not think of the 'unit' that is a myth peddled by the left.

//If you are rich enough, you do not live in areas prone to natural disasters. //
New York gets hurricanes, lots of rich fold there, West coast, lots of rich folks three but sits on the San Andreas. Sometimes you do talk some rot.
//He might need some Disaster Relief himself after the election. //

The man himself is a disaster. Be afraid .... be very afraid!
Look at *when* he said this

At the time he was trying to get the Republican's nomination - he was massively right wing - anti-federal government, trying to get Tea Party votes.

Now he's got the nomination he's trying to swing back to the middle ground and appear moderate.

What's his real agenda? - who knows but he's clearly driven by expediency and says what the key voters at the time want to hear.
#It does seem the election is Obamas to lose, rather than Romneys to win, if you know what I mean.#

Isn't that the case in all elections. ?
Be afraid. Be very afraid!
Youngmafbog, I am in awe of your debating skills and amazing powers of remote sensing.
You don't know me from a hole in the ground and yet are able to dismiss a post as being from an 'extreme lefty'.
Bring it on, Brainiac.
This is a superb use of social media from the Obama camp. "An animated short about the big choice in 2012's presidential election, by Simpsons / Family Guy animator Lucas Gray."
Hmm, "Enter YouTube Link Here" failed. It is here:
