Just out of interest and as a comparison, what temperature do you have your thermostat set at?

Ours is set at 18 degrees and I don't think it's warm enough but my husband does.

22, it turns off alot i think though.
20.5 in the living room, but it rarely comes on.

21.5 in the bedroom, but it's only timed to come on for about an hour in the morning and a couple of hours late at night.

20 in the kitchen

Number 5 in the shower and toilet... which is high, but toasty feet while peeing is nice :)
OH, and they are all set to come on at any time regardless if the room temperature drops to 10 below their setting.

i dont have heating :-(
I've just resorted to putting a curtain up at the back door to stop me turning to ice in the kitchen.
ours is usually around 18 degrees - our tall old house is very patchy with heat and cold though, the living room and bedroom are the warmest. The kichen (downstairs) is often chilly due to the catflap.
We have storage heaters and use economy 10. The one in the living/dining room is set at 5 and the one in the spare room is on 4. We keep that one on for dressing in the mornings. It comes on between 2am and 7.30am, from 1pm - 3pm and 10pm - 12.30am.

Thats all we have. Nothing in the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom but there is a small one in the hall which we'll switch on when the outside temperatures drop below freezing.

If you have yours on all the time Tilly, could you compromise with OH by switching it off over night and for a few hours during the day in exchange for turning it up a few degrees?

Bring beer and food then :)

My place is so well insulated it hardly needs any heating... just having the TV on for the evening can make the living room too hot on really cold nights.

We turn ours down to 15 when we go to bed. Next question then. how much do you pay per month? We pay £72 per month for both gas and electricity.
Ours is set to 13
I have it set on 20, but Mr Jules feels the cold and is always turning it up in the evening, I forget to turn it down before going to bed and then wake up roasting in the morning and so the cycle begins :)
I must be the only ABer not to have central heating! When our house was built in 1972 we had the choice of having it or not. As we were stretched to the absolute limit with the deposit we couldn't afford it, and we have never bothered since! We have a wall gas fire in the lounge and a fantastic wall convector heater (called Robinson Willey) in the hall which is so powerful it heats the whole house (too much sometimes!) All my family and friends are amazed at how warm our house is, and say its much better than central heating. We have a Dimplex wall heater in the bathroom just for when I have my early morning shower. Our heating bills are fine too.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

It seems to me that women feel the cold more than men, unless men are just more stingy and don't want to pay the bills.
