/// Greater Manchester Police investigated a complaint by a 15-year-old victim that she had been raped in 2008, but prosecutors opted not to press charges and the abuse continued. ///

/// Police have played down the racial backgrounds of the men, saying the girls – mostly from broken or ‘chaotic’ homes – were targeted because they were vulnerable, not because they were white. ///

/// Backing them, Keith Vaz, the Labour chairman of the home affairs select committee, yesterday told the Today programme that highlighting the Pakistani origin of all but one of the gang risked giving ammunition to the far-Right. ///

And wouldn't that be convenient Mr Vaz, we don't want the Nation, never mind about the Far-Right.to know about these Pakistanis do we?

There should be no cover-ups, be them British or British/Pakistani, or any other nationality, the people should know the full facts, regardless which side of politics one comes from.

/// Ms Ann Cryer, a former Labour MP in Keighley, West Yorkshire. said: ‘This is an absolute scandal. ///

/// They (the police and CPS) were petrified of being called racist and so reverted to the default of political correctness. They had a greater fear of being perceived in that light than in dealing with the issues in front of
them.’ ///

And now those others in authority who choice to ignore this disgraceful state of affairs now should either 'fall on their swords' or be sacked

Nice Guardian article, but ignoring a point. The fact is that we have had a disproportionate number of cases involving men of Pakistani origin, even in the context of areas with high populations of such men. One case in Cornwall involving white Britons does not alter that, and the Derby case is not one of conspiracy, of people acting together, but of individuals acting alone who happened to be caught up in a police operation.

Conspiracy, planning, by several men to commit these crimes is rare; it is almost unprecedented. "Gang bangs" where several men rape a girl, is fairly rare, but are cases where one, who usually knows her, has 'seduced' (!) the victim and others take advantage, with him; it is not a case of planning and setting out to find and entrap the victim.

The fundamental reason why these cases would not be, or are not, in court, is evidential, at least in the eyes of police and prosecutors; the girls are not corroborated, will not testify, or are not believed. But there is no doubt that added to that, as an additional factor, 'racial sensitivity' has come into play here. And surely it cannot be denied that, within a narrow band, cultural attitudes of these particular Pakistani men, derived from wherever or how they were brought up, had them thinking that these girls were fair game.
