If you shoot yourself in the head you will likely be dead.
If you only pretend, you will likely live.

What do you mean by pretending?
If there was accidentally a bullet in the gun, sure.
If he died how does your friend know?

The difference between Weird and Stupid is?
If someone puts a gun to their head saying they're going to kill themselves, not meaning to go through with it, and pulls the trigger not knowing there's a live bullet in the chamber - it's not exactly pretending.

Is it worth me pulling up a chair?
I suppose it's possible to kill oneself, at very close range, with a blank round.

One of my mates used to play Russian Roulette for a bit of fun.

Indeed it is. Bob Monkhouse very nearly did it to Charlie Drake. As it was he only shot off part of his ear.

But it was TV that was to make Bob Monkhouse a family name for the next 50 years. He became the first comedian to be under exclusive contract to the BBC so he made a lot of guest appearances in variety shows. In 1954, he and Dennis Goodwin made Fast and Loose, a sketch show with guests, until he shot Charlie Drake's ear - but in true show bizz style, the show went on until the curtain closed and Charlie passed out.
My friend at school said she couldn't eat fish as her lips would swell up and she'd die within seconds. I asked her if she'd ever tried it. Once she replied.
Jon-Erik Hexum was killed when he placed a blank-loaded .44 Magnum revolver to his head and pulled the trigger—the powerful shock-wave from the blank cartridge penetrated his skull, sending bone fragments deep into his brain. He died a few days after the accident.
I remember that Graham. He was in that god awful detective show Cover Up at the time.
