Windows 8 Upgrade woes

I was looking forward to upgrading from W7 to W8 on my desktop but luckily ran the compatibility wizard before I bought it.

My PC has a tv card which is connected to my rooftop aerial. I watch and record live tv via Windows Media Centre, and it works very well.

The compatibility report tells me that I will have to download Media Centre (Center) as a free plug in, which I knew, but the new version won't let me watch tv.

Is there any alternative way of watching tv via my tv tuner using W8?

I've weighed up all the reviews, I'm aware of the benefits and pitfalls and still feel W8 is the way to go for my machine, thanks
