she bought him, would never let him go outside incase he got muddy (she was worried about her house getting dirty), this backfired as in the end he was going toilet on the floor in her house which i could tell distressed him the poor thing,(they would then shout at him for doing it) so because of this they have now decided he is no longer allowed in the house as he makes it dirty and malts!, he is confined to a small yard now, 24hrs a day 7 days a week, no contact at all with them (because he malts and the hair annoys them!) except when they lean out of the back door to put his food out. I went round and he was desperatley jumping up at the back door making whimpering sounds, i begged them to let him in or me out to fuss him but they said no because of the dirt! Ive tried talking to them but im getting no where. They dont care about him but flatly refuse to give him away to a better home. please give me some suggestions, he is such an amazing dog (chocolate lab puppy) and so lively, he is craving just a bit of love and attention and i feel sick when i think of it. Also she has left him for 2 days on his own before, I rang the rspca (sorry if you think i over reacted but she just upped and went abroad for 2 days leaving a 3 month old puppy in a yard) the rspca said they cant do anything as he has water/food and shelter!

Hi all. Ive been trying to see her all weekend but she cancelled twice, i think she knows what i want to see her about. I dont know either why they avoid the subject or refuse to let him go elsewhere but i wont stop on this one. I went over twice but she was out. They live in a house that backs strait onto another house/yard and they are in a terrace so i cant get round to him either (only through the front) . I saw a friend on Saturday and she had just seen her out with him which is good, im going over again though and will update you asap. x

thank you twinkle for keeping us informed :-)

Like the rest of the postees, i've been worrying myself silly over the dog, specially when it gets so cold at nights.

I really hope you can get through to your friend- for the sake of the dog, please dont give up on this one!

Why on earth do people get dogs if they're worried about mess? At least go for a smaller breed- perhaps it's the "macho" thing of having a bigger dog. My little dachy makes virtually no mess whatsoever, some breeds are just cleaner than others. My cocker spaniel loves making mess-leaves brought in the house, fur on the sofa but that's part of her. I worked in a house with a young lab and they're very active dogs so of course they'll bring in dirt. Please keep us informed. Perhaps painting a blacker picture of the future will help. Maybe showing her some rescue sites on the internet might help?If she doesn't really love it- and how could she treating it this way- maybe showing her the cost over the years to keep a dog? Hope you think of something and it's a good job the dog's got you bothering about it.
twinkle- any news on the dog yet?

hi all. ive arranged to go over her house tonight (she hasnt cancelled again, so fingers crossed!) & i cant wait to see him. im going armed with as much info as i can about the consequences of the how he is living and also some details of offers ive had for rehoming him (very good homes i might add!). just incase anyone was wondering, I would have him live with me but I have a dog and on the odd occassions that they met it didnt go well at all (he just wanted to play but mine was having none of it!) I promise he is going to get lots of cuddles when i get there and ill give him a hug from you all. Ill mail tomorrow with the outcome x

And here is a little poem your "friend" may like to read
ALONE AGAIN

I wish someone could tell me
What it is that I've done wrong,
Why I have to stay chained up
And left alone so long.

They seemed so glad to have me
When I came here as a pup.
There were so many things we'd do
While I was growing up.

They couldn't wait to train me
As companion and as friend.
They told me they would never fear
Being left alone again.

But now the family hasn't time.
They often say I shed.
They won't allow me in the house,
Not even to be fed.

All I have is love, you see,
I wish they would explain,
Why they said they wanted me
Then left me on a chain.

Awww shaneystar, how could you, I'm blubbing like a right idiot here now! :-(

Twinkle- hope you manage to get through to your friend, give him a cuddle from me. I really hope your friend comes to your/our way of thinking on this.

Fingers crossed!

I am with you on that one BOO, I need a tissue or two now after that poem...oh all the neglected and abandoned dogs out there!!! Boo hoo!!!

I am soo excited for him, I do hope they let him go! Good luck Twinkle...fingers and paws crossed !!
