let's get back to the thread shall we, bogus marriages are obviously a problem, one Vicar was sent to prison recently, however what about all the bogus, sham marriages, the people who can simply melt into the landscape, how can you stop it?

I'm surprised they found it so easy. My cousin is married to a lad from Trinidad and they made it really difficult for him to stay here. I think it took 2 years before he got a work permit, even though they had a baby born 9 months after the wedding.

There is no way to prevent sham marriages. You can crack down on them, but you cannot stop them.

Well, you could but the red tape involved would be monstrous. You would have to rely on council officials interviewing anyone suspected of entering into a bogus marriage - and how would you do that?
