Had and fixed a problem with my Mk1 Focus heater blower a while ago. It was not working on all settings 1-4. The fuse was blowing due to a seized fan shaft.
Now I think the resistor has blown. Its not working on 1-3, but working on 4.
I am aware of an additional fan starting somewhere in the engine bay when the ignition is turned on and the engine started, engine cold so cant be cooling fan.
Any ideas please

What makes you aware of another fan starting ?

I can hear it start and run, tonyav
Has your Focus got air con, if it as then the noise you hear could be the air con compressor.
As Tony regards A/C, I would have thought the P.C.B. may be the prob here!

Yes it has AC, but why would the compressor and fan work if AC switch is not switched on and no fan speed selected?
