Apologies -

Great deal ("cracking") - deal - "...a fir or pine board; soft wood..."
You weren't being slow, HenHen, it is just a poorly clued crossword. I've just completed it with the help of my friends in the pub this lunchtime. None of us can understand the answers for 12 & 24, though.
12a Paperwork representing paperwork? (5)

Forms - 'for' (representing) + 'MS' (manuscript)

24d Glower after one runs round getting cross (5)

Riled (cross) - 'LED' (glower; light, after) 'i' (one) + 'r(uns)' (both round)
Thank you, Lie-in King. Your explanations reinforce my opinion of this crossword!
