Visited Dad today and he was saying that 1 of the carers had stolen his money and purchased a farm.
I find that rather strange as I am now in charge of his money and it is all there and the lady involved is 64 hardly an age to start farming

I have a father in the same predicament but I would not dream of telling people about it on here, thus taking away what dignity he has left.
Paranoia can be a symptom of dementia. In his nursing home, my father, having utterly failed to recognise me, told me his daughter ( me ) was trying to steal his house off him. He was 97 at the time.
From my experience Brimoan, these sort of allegations are not uncommon. I've known of at least two people who have done this. Unfounded on both occasions. I seems to be something which the elderly in a confused condition unfortunately do.

I am not using my real name on this site.
Tilly we haven't a clue who Brimoan is, or his father, so how can his dignity be taken away?

Hi atlanta

I am in our jointly owned house now.
He thought it had been taken a while ago.
I take photographs of the garden in.
About a week ago Dad wanted to know where the daffodils were.
The photograph was taken the day before.
Poor dad. It's sad to see our parents and old folk declining like this.
Actually SOMETIMES thery can be right though. In the late 60s my Grandma was in a nursing home and often got very confused. She started saying that the matron was stealing her handbag overnight and taking her money out, but we just assumed she had spent it on little luxuries like chocolate and sweets which she loved - besides she didn't have much money kept in her bag. Over the months she got more and more agitated about this and we got very tired of hearing the same old story every time we visited. Soon after she died, we were so shocked to read in our local paper that the matron had been arrested for stealing small amounts of money (so it wouldn't be missed) from nearly every resident for over 5 years!! She was put in prison. How we wish we had believed Grandma and not thought she was just a confused old lady.
Ladybirder,
I just feel that it is making a mockery of his father by writing about his problems on here.

I wouldn't do it. That's all.
Hi Brimoan- thanks for another thread addressed to me, but you don't need to keep me addressing your posts to me.

Hi Steve

I am sorry to hear that.
Oddly my father was a little more with it today.
He asked if I was keeping the garden tidy.
I am doing my best but the visits take up a lot of time.
He was pleased I had put the winter flowering pansies in and painted the shed. He was also pleased I was looking after his money.
He wanted to drive the car but obviously this was not possible.
