I had a phone call 3 weeks ago from a mortgage broker and the person said they would give me £50 if they could not save me money on my mortgage.
My mortgage was repaid over 20 years ago and they have not saved me any money on it,
Should they give me the £50?.

In theory I reckon they should because they can't save you any money.
How did you answer the caller ?
You don't have a mortgage to save money on.........
Amazingly exactly the same thing happened to Granger99 and Edger in these two threads here :

“Oddly enough somebody called me on my mobile a few weeks ago and said he would give me £50 if he could not save me money on my mortgage.
I kept him talking for a bit and told him I would have the £50 as my mortgage was paid off over 20 years ago.
I am still waiting for it.”

“I had a call a few weeks ago saying I would be given £50 if they could not save me money on my mortgage.
I strung them a long a bit and then asked how they were going to save me money on my mortgage as I paid it off about 20 years ago.
I am still awaiting my £50. “

At the time they said they didn't get their money so I doubt you will unfortunately.

You have disappointed me. I was going to put the money towards some new running shoes.
brimoan, i would be really interested to know what you get out of making up loads of usernames with invented scenarios. Is your actual life so boring you have to create loads of personalities? do you just enjoy winding the likes of me up? are you sitting behind your screen going "mwa ha ha ha"?
i'm just really interested
One possibility, I suppose, bednobs is that when one person posts similar threads under so many different names is that he/she is asking on behalf of other people he/she meets when visiting the nursing home (although that doesn't explain all those other topics which keep reappearing).

In a way I regret having said anything on this thread because it is just a harmless story and some of the threads from Brimoan etc are quite amusing and generate discussion/chat. I do feel a little uncomfortable when other members of AB go to great lengths to answer what appears to be an odd scenario about care home funding or bizarre pension scheme rules etc but maybe it's helpful to someone
Where is Brimoan anyway... surely not still running?
