I have been in and out of my mums the last 2 weeks and have not used my kitchen, hence not noticed the water leaking. I saw this today, and have had the tap replaced, but my worktop, the bit where the sink in place has collapsed, as it had cutlery on it, because it got wet through it crumbled away, into the cupboard underneath. The kitchen is only a year old. my question is, can i claim this via my home insurance to repair for me? I have never actualy claimed on my insurance before so am not sure where i stand now..would this be classed as accidental damage or just water damage?

Any advice will be appreciated. Many thanks

They should pay for the worksurface, but not the tap that caused the damage.
