hi all took 80 yr old mum to doctors yesterday as she was in agony with pain in lower back and from inside thigh to knee and was told it was a trapped nerve she was given some painkillers to take and told to rest up is there anything else we can do to relieve the pain and will it ever get better in the near future?

bernie...that seems a reasonable diagnosis from your description and the treatment of rest and "painkillers" is also appropriate.

LOL...yes fine thanks........getting older though and there are no pluses in that....;-)
Hello Bernie tell your mum it will get better in time I'm 80 yrs also and had it for 12 weeks and the best pain relief I use is Tramadol and Gabapentin muscle relaxer , It's taken me the 12 weeks to get an appointment at our hospital for them to tell me they will give me an injection in a further 5 weeks and they will get in touch in MARCH for a Tens Machine ,Makes you wonder about our NHS ,It frightens the life out of you getting sick in old age Anyway Bernie tell your mum it will get better it's just a slow old job
