I noticed a funny mark on my cat last night

it was only little (on his head, near the top sort of behind his ear) and wasn't bothering him, so I though right I'll look again in the morning. I've just looked at it and the bit is covered in a sort of slimy gunk! It wasn't there half an hour ago. Do you think it was maybe some sort of abcess thing that has just burst? He is letting me clean it (and purring and trying to lick me and play as I do it) but I cant see anything through his fur.

He might have had a small scratch or cut on his head that healed over with some pus inside. He may also have a wee "whitehead" that has erupted and discharged the pus. My cat gets these all the time. The discharge looks a bit like cottage cheese (sorry to be revolting but it does). As soon as it discharges the lump disappears and she is fine. It might also be a tick that he has picked up outside - why not let the veterinary nurse at your practice have a look at it, just to be sure.

Cheers, I will give the vet a phone, I cleaned it but he just came home and there is still stuff coming out of it.
God I just spent 47 at vet 2 weeks ago lol Just as well we love them eh?

OK I just gave it another clean and I found a tiny, tiny little hole. The stuff that is coming out is basically clear and sticky and slimy. (sorry) It doesn't smell or anything. Any ideas could have caused it???

I wouldn't panick about a tiny hole with abit of sticky stuff coming out. I would give it a week or two and if it doesn't heal then ask the vet. Vets are so expensive and I always get the impression they like money more than animals. We get cuts and spots and don't run to the doctors every 5 minutes.

Sorry not meant to be sounding mean but I can't see anything to panick about yet.

yeah you could be right funnywebsite, it's not like he is in pain or it's bothering him.
Mycatis, after a infected area has discharged the pus, there is generally a clear discharge afterwards.I don't think it sounds likeanything to worry about, but, check with your vet,if you're not happy!...Hope he's fine!!

bathe it with salt water if he will let you about a teaspoon salt to a pint of water and keep an eye on it . i woudnt rush to a vet unless it gets bigger or becomes painful.
